Are On-Line Dating Services a Waste of Time?

Mar 20, 10 at 08:16
I have been single again since Dec/09 and I have a question to ask all of you. Is going on the Internet in search of "LOVE" a waste of time? Is it not better to go out in the world and do things and meet people rather than being cooped up in the house(or apartment or condo) in front of your computer looking for the 'Perfect' mate, especially when we are not 'Perfect' ourselves. I am 62 and would like to be answered. I feel childish in asking this, BUT I WANT AN ANSWER. Merci!

Dear Louise....you are not childish .I've asked this question to myself before and I think the answer somes it this way .It can be fun when you get to meet what we are looking for but then it is sad when we don't meet or find what we wanted. But I personally would like to meet on the street or whereveverin person and get the true vue of that person.but then again a surprise could be waiting on the internet

I don't think anything that gets you meeting people is a waste of time. I wouldn't pay money for the privilege though. You can get to know people fairly well online if you're able to talk fairly often. I've met people I've gotten to know online. Maybe best to do it as a group at first though rather than one on one as in a date.

Why "either - or"? I'm out most of the time and always meeting people but sometimes it's fun to just google around and see what's happening. I've made some great online friends. I've met "in the flesh" the ones who are nearby and have great conversations online with the ones who are farther away. If you're looking for the "perfect" mate, you may miss out on friendships (and more) that can develop while you are out just connecting with people. Good luck in your search!

I second that ... I prefer to live my life and get out and do the things I love. I meet like-minded people. I've run my own singles mingles and made some lovely friends. It's great for building a social life.
